My name is Rebecca Umana and I was born in Nigeria. I have always enjoyed eating bread for as long as I can remember. Avia Bakery is the healthier Nigerian sweet bread I built for my own family, and now for yours.

I moved from Nigeria to the UK after I got married and had to make frantic efforts to get the home made bread loaf I was used to having back home. When I eventually got it, it was usually not fresh and could stay for over a month on the shelf without going bad due to unhealthy types of preservatives used. I was scared for my health and that of my family, thinking about the harm those preservatives do to us.

So I started learning, researching and baking bread. I came up with a healthier version of Nigerian sweet bread with reduced fat, sugar and salt, 100% natural preservatives, quality flour and ingredients, with better taste, texture and satisfaction that I can serve to my family without fear of taking in toxic content.

The worry

Bread that lasted a month.

After moving abroad, the only sweet bread Rebecca could find sat on shelves for over a month without going bad, kept fresh by unhealthy preservatives. She was scared of what that was doing to her family's health.

So she started from scratch: learning, researching and baking loaf after loaf until the recipe was right. No toxic content, no shortcuts, just real bread she could serve at home without fear.
