Taste and see
the bread is good.

My name is Rebecca, and I named this bakery after my daughter, Avia. I was born in Nigeria and I have loved good bread for as long as I can remember. Avia Bakery is the clean label white bread I built for my own family, and now for Ottawa's too.

In Rebecca's words

I grew up in Nigeria and later moved to the UK after I got married. I still remember buying a loaf of bread there and watching it sit on my counter for weeks, still soft, still looking fresh. I couldn't stop thinking about it: what was really in this bread? Why did it last so long? What would bread taste like if it were made the right way?

Those questions became an obsession, and the obsession became a recipe. I learned, researched and baked until I had a clean label white bread made with natural preservatives only, that I was proud to put in front of my own family. Then I brought it with me to Canada. I have been baking for over twenty years now, and it is still my passion.

I present to you, Avia Bakery. Clean label white bread, made the right way. Taste and see that the bread is good.

Rebecca, the hands behind the loaf.

The question

What is really in this bread?

Living in the UK, Rebecca bought a loaf that sat on the counter for weeks and still looked fresh. It made her wonder what was keeping it that way, and what bread could taste like if it were made properly.

The kitchen

Years in the making.

That question became an obsession. She learned, researched and baked, loaf after loaf, until she had a clean label white bread made with natural preservatives only that she was proud to serve her own family.

The home

Now baking for Ottawa.

She brought the bread with her to Canada. Avia has been going for about five years, and in 2026 it opened a home of its own in Ottawa. We have been here a while, now there is a place to find us.
